    The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference appointed Regan Tekavec as the first assistant commissioner in conference history. Tekavec was previously an assistant sports information director at Augustana (South Dakota) while completing her master's degree and was a volleyball student-athlete for the Vikings as an undergraduate.  In her new role, Tekavec will be involved in all aspects of operations and administration in the 18-sport conference. This position was made possible primarily from an NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority and Women's Internship Grant.

    Other transactions

    Directors of athletics – Linda Moulton announced her retirement as director of athletics and recreation at Clark. Moulton became the fifth athletics director in Clark history in August 1987. During her tenure, participation increased 21 percent in men's athletics and 18 percent in women's athletics at the university.

    Coaches

    Baseball – Former Coppin State assistant coach Sherman Reed was named head coach of the Eagle program. Reed served as an assistant during the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

    Men's basketball – Chicago State appointed Tracy Dildy the 12th head coach in program history. Dildy spent the last three seasons as associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Illinois-Chicago.

    Field Hockey – Zowie Tucker was hired as head coach at Holy Cross. Tucker was a member of the Northeastern coaching staff for the past nine years, including the last four years as associate head coach.

    Men's and women's golf – Former Temple student-athlete and coach Adam Pifer was named head coach of the men's golf program at Cabrini. Pifer was an assistant coach with the men's program at Temple last season and was a played for the Owls from 2005 to 2009.

    Men's and women's lacrosse – Massachusetts named Angela McMahon head coach of the women's lacrosse program. McMahon was the head coach of the women's program at Connecticut and succeeds Alexis Venechanos, who accepted the head coach position with the Ohio State women's team.

    Men's and women's volleyball – Haley Janicek was promoted to head coach of the women's volleyball program at Austin Peay State. Janicek was an assistant coach with the program last season and was a volleyball student-athlete at Idaho before that.

    Conferences

    The Big Ten announced new officers for its council of presidents/chancellors for the 2010-11 academic year. Indiana President Michael McRobbie was appointed chair. France A. Cordova, president of Purdue, will serve as first vice chair and Iowa President Sally Mason will serve as second vice chair Greg Weghorst was named assistant commissioner for the American Southwest Conference. Weghorst, who has served as the director of media relations since 2006, will add administrative and governance responsibilities as part of his redefined position.
