    Charlotte promoted Chris Thomasson to associate athletics director for compliance and championships. Thomasson has worked for the 49ers since 2005, first as director of compliance and championships, then as an assistant athletics director of compliance and championships.

    Coaches

    Baseball – Mike Diaz was promoted to head coach at Centenary (Louisiana) after serving as an associate head coach the past six seasons.

    Baseball assistants – Long Beach State hired Jesse Zepeda as an assistant coach. Zepeda joins the Dirtbag program after seven seasons at Cal Poly.

    Women's basketball assistants – Anna Bateman was hired as an assistant coach at Northern Colorado … Middle Tennessee hired Kim Clark as an assistant coach. Clark served as an assistant at Gardner-Webb the past six seasons.

    Field hockey – Holy Cross named Zowie Tucker as its new head field hockey coach. Tucker joins the Crusaders after spending the last nine seasons on the coaching staff at Northeastern, including four years as the associate head coach.

    Football assistants – Dave Opfar rejoined the Duquesne program as defensive coordinator after eight years as head coach at St. Francis (Pennsylvania). Opfar was previously a coach on the Dukes' staff for five years beginning in 1993. Duquesne also promoted Niel Loebig to offensive coordinator. Loebig was a quarterback for the Dukes from 2001 to 2004 and has been a coach for the program since 2006 … The Citadel named Cam Turner wide receivers coach. Turner played at quarterback and wide receiver for the Bulldogs the past three seasons. Turner began working as a student assistant in the spring and graduated in May.

    Men's and women's golf – St. Bonaventure named Brett Mucheck head coach of the men's golf program. Mucheck is a graduate of St. Bonaventure and was the general manager of an area golf course.

    Men's and women's ice hockey – Alabama-Huntsville promoted Chris Luongo to head coach of the men's ice hockey program. Luongo, an assistant for two years, takes over for Danton Cole, who accepted the head coaching position for the United States Hockey National Team Development program.

    Softball assistants – Adrian Mendoza, assistant coach at Utah for the past three seasons, was named assistant coach at Sam Houston State.

    Men's and women's swimming and diving – Abby Brethauer was hired as the head coach of the men's and women's swimming programs at Mary Washington. Brethauer was an assistant coach at Columbia the past five years.

    Staff

    Compliance – Charlotte hired Scott Byrd as assistant director of compliance. Byrd joins the 49ers after working in compliance at NC State and Wake Forest … DePaul promoted Doug Bakker to director of athletics compliance. Bakker began his career at DePaul as a graduate intern in 2003 before being named assistant director of compliance in 2005.

    Ticket office – Jesse Garber was promoted to assistant ticket manager at Charlotte.  Garber has worked in the 49ers' ticket office the past three years.

    Video – Hudson Jacobs was named the men's and women's basketball video coordinator at Charlotte. Jacobs assumes the newly created position after serving as an administrative assistant for the women's basketball and volleyball programs at Charlotte.

    Deaths

    Former Flagler men's golf coach Jay Jennison died July 9 from cancer. Jennison coached at Flagler in 2007-08.
