    Houston hired Molly Alvey as head women's volleyball coach. Alvey becomes just the fourth head coach in the program's history after spending five seasons as an assistant coach at Mississippi, including her final two as the associate head coach. Alvey also spent one season as head coach at Southern Indiana and three years as a graduate assistant at Temple.

    Other transactions

    Associate athletics directors – Nebraska-Omaha named Josh White as the associate AD for external operations and promoted Ann Oatman to associate AD for internal operations. White returns to the university after serving as its compliance director and academic coordinator from 1999-2002.  Since 2006, he had been the assistant AD for compliance and planning at Nebraska. He was an associate director in the membership services staff at the NCAA national office before that. Oatman has served as the Nebraska-Omaha's business manager since September 2009.

    Coaches

    Baseball – Hilbert promoted assistant coach Jonathan Musialowski to head baseball coach.

    FootballKent Austin, who spent five years as a coach in the Canadian Football League and the last two years as offensive coordinator at Mississippi, has been named head coach at Cornell. Austin takes over for Jim Knowles, who resigned earlier this month to become defensive coordinator at Duke … Texas State head football coach Brad Wright signed a three-year contract extension through the 2012 season … Puget Sound named Jeff Thomas as head football coach. He has been the offensive coordinator at Redlands for the past three years.

    Football assistants – Pacific (Oregon) selected Jacob Yoro as linebackers coach and coordinator of recruiting efforts in Hawaii, and Aaron Cloud as defensive backs coach. Yoro comes to Pacific after one season as the linebackers coach at the University of Montana Western in Dillon. Cloud spent the last three seasons as an assistant at La Verne.

    Men's and women's lacrosse – Delaware women's lacrosse coach Kim Ciarrocca, who has coached for 20 years, including the last five at the helm of the Blue Hens, will retire from coaching after the 2010 campaign.

    Men's and women's soccer – Concordia University Texas head men's soccer coach Dan Darden resigned after two seasons.

    Men's and women's tennisGreg Kennet has been named the head women's tennis coach at Dominican (California). Kennet had been a volunteer assistant coach at California and the associate head women's tennis coach at St. Mary's (California) before that. He also previously served as Illinois State's head men's tennis coach.

    Men's and women's volleyballKrista Burrows is the new women's volleyball coach at Youngstown State. Burrows, who spent the last six seasons as the head coach at Walsh University, also has been an assistant at Bradley, Cleveland State and Clemson.

    Deaths

    Matt Liddy, longtime swimming coach and administrator at Wright State, died January 25 from an apparent heart attack at the age of 50. During his 16-year coaching career, the Raiders won seven conference titles in men's swimming, including Horizon League crowns in each of Liddy's final three seasons, and nine on the women's side, including three straight on two separate occasions. Liddy served the last four years as an assistant athletics director with the department.
