    Rutgers added Meredith Long as an assistant field hockey coach. Long joins the Scarlet Knight program after serving as an assistant coach at Towson. She also spent three seasons as an assistant at Vermont. Long played collegiately at Boston University for one season before transferring to Maryland, where she was a member of three straight national semifinal teams and the 2005 squad that advanced to the national championship match.  

    Other transactions

    FootballSkip Holtz was hired as head coach at South Florida, replacing Jim Leavitt. As head coach at East Carolina for the past five seasons, Holtz has compiled a 38-27 record and captured two Conference USA titles… Tennessee hired Louisiana Tech's Derek Dooley as head coach.

    Football assistants – Former Virginia head coach Al Groh was chosen as defensive coordinator at Georgia Tech, succeeding Dave Wommack. Groh guided the Cavaliers to a 59-53 record in nine seasons … UTEP named Andre Patterson as defensive coordinator. Patterson, who succeeds Osia Lewis, has been assistant head coach and defensive line coach at UNLV for the past two seasons at UNLV. The school also released defensive line coach DeChon Burns and assistant coach Jim Clark … Akron appointed Curt Mallory as defensive coordinator. For the past six seasons, Mallory has been at Illinois, where he most recently has served as co-defensive coordinator … John Skladany was added as linebackers coach and special teams assistant at Central Florida. He takes over for Geoff Collins. Skladany, who formerly was defensive coordinator for the Black Knights in 2007, has been defensive coordinator at Houston for two seasons … Marshall tapped Frank Piraino as strength and conditioning coach for football. Piraino has been part of the strength and conditioning staff at Florida for the past five years.

    Men's basketball – Dartmouth elevated assistant coach Mark Graupe to interim head coach, replacing Terry Dunn, who resigned earlier this month.

    Men's basketball assistantPaul "Doc" Donohue was chosen as an interim assistant coach at Dartmouth. Donohue, who has been head coach at Hanover (Massachusetts) High School, formerly was an assistant at Dartmouth for seven seasons. (1985-92).  

    Women's rowingDerek Copeland was promoted to full-time head coach at Dayton after guiding the program on a part-time basis for the past two years.
