    Central Michigan selected Dan Enos as head football coach. For the past four seasons, Enos has been at Michigan State, where he was the Spartans' running backs coach each of the past three seasons after coaching the quarterbacks in 2006. He also has completed coaching stints at Cincinnati, North Dakota, Western Michigan, Missouri State, Southern Illinois, Northern Michigan and Lakeland.

    Presidents and chancellorsBarbara Couture, senior vice chancellor for academic affairs and professor of English at Nebraska, was selected as president at New Mexico State … Nova Southeastern announced George L. Hanbury II, executive vice president and chief operating officer at the school, as president and chief operating officer there. Hanbury has been executive vice president and chief operating officer for the last 12 years.

    Football – Texas Tech hired Tommy Tuberville as head coach, replacing Mike Leach, who was released last month. Tuberville formerly was head coach at Mississippi and, most recently, at Auburn.

    Football assistantsNeal Brown was added as offensive coordinator at Texas Tech. Brown has spent the past four seasons in charge of the offense at Troy … Notre Dame added Kerry Cooks as outside linebackers coach, Tim Hinton as running backs coach and Ed Warinner as offensive line coach and Cooks was at Wisconsin and Hinton served as an assistant at Cincinnati, while Warinner has been offensive coordinator at Kansas for the past three seasons. In addition, Paul Longo was selected as director of football strength and conditioning, and the school announced that Tony Alford will continue with the staff, but will move to wide receivers coach after most recently coaching running backs … Rob Moore was tapped as wide receivers coach at Syracuse. Moore, a former 12-year standout in the NFL, returns to his alma mater after most recently serving as wide receivers coach at Phoenix Junior College and working as a football analyst for ESPN Radio 860 AM in Phoenix as well as as a consultant for Protect Management and Athlete's Performance, training collegiate football players who are entering the NFL draft.

    DeathsBill Mulligan, former longtime UC Irvine men's basketball coach, passed away at the age of 79. Mulligan directed the program for 11 seasons and led the Anteaters to the National Invitation Tournament in 1982 and 1986. He also was an assistant at Southern California for two seasons.
