    After three decades of directing publicity efforts for Mississippi athletics, Langston Rogers is retiring from his post as senior associate athletics director for media relations, effective at the end of April. An icon of the media relations world, Rogers has won nearly every award possible as a member and past president of the 2,300-member College Sports Information Directors of America.

    Assistant athletics directors -- Newberry hired Matt Finley as assistant athletics director for business.

    Coaches

    Women's basketball – Tammy Metcalf-Filzen of Carleton announced her retirement as women's basketball coach and associate professor of physical education, athletics and recreation, effective June 30.

    Field hockey – Indiana (PA) named Gary Agard as its new field hockey coach.

    Deaths

    Former Arkansas Tech baseball student-athlete Ryan White was killed in a one-car accident Monday. He was 27.

    Miscellaneous

    The NCAA Division I Field Hockey Committee reprimanded the North Carolina field hockey team for failure to adhere to bench area policies at the 2009 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship. The team had more than the allotted number of people in the team bench area, even after being reminded of the limitations the day before the final.
