    Northern State announced that Don Meyer, the all-time leader in coaching wins in NCAA men's basketball history, will retire from coaching at the end of this season. Meyer, 65, has accumulated 922 career victories in 38 seasons, while coaching at Hamline in Minnesota, David Lipscomb in Tennessee, and at Northern State, in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

    Other transactions

    Directors of athletics – Camden Wood Selig, athletics director at Western Kentucky, has been named the new director of athletics at Old Dominion.

    Coaches

    Football – Augustana (South Dakota) announced the resignation of football coach Brad Salem, and the promotion of assistant coach Mike Aldrich to the head coaching position.

    Football assistants – Brad Sherrod was named linebackers coach at Delaware.

    Men's and women's volleyball – North Carolina State hired Bryan Bunn as its women's volleyball coach … Bruce Atkinson stepped down as women's volleyball coach at Hawaii-Hilo … Luther hired Cindy Fredrick as head women's volleyball coach.

    Staff

    Newberry announced that Mike Hold has been appointed as the new executive director of the Newberry College Athletic Club.

    Deaths

    Bob Pollock, who led Clemson to 21 Atlantic Coast Conference championships in his 20 years as coach of the school's track program, died February 20 in Lexington, Kentucky. He had been diagnosed with lung cancer last August. He was 60 years old … Bennie Abram, 20, a non-scholarship athlete who transferred to Mississippi from Itawamba Community College last fall, died after collapsing during the first day of the team's football conditioning February 19.
