    Indiana hired Doug Mallory and Mike Ekeler as co-defensive coordinators. Mallory had two previous stints with the Hoosiers, as a graduate assistant in 1988 and as an assistant coach from 1994 to 1996. He is the son of former Indiana head coach Bill Mallory and served as defensive coordinator at New Mexico the past two seasons. Ekeler spent the past three seasons as the linebackers coach at Nebraska.

    Other transactions

    Coaches

    Men's and women's cross country and track and field – Kevin Curtin joined the Bentley men's and women's cross country and track and field programs as head coach. Curtin previously served as the head coach of the New Balance Boston Track Club.

    Football – Kent State named Darrell Hazell head coach. Hazell was an assistant coach at Ohio State the past seven seasons … Gary Goff was selected as head coach at Tiffin following one season as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at West Virginia Wesleyan.

    Men's and women's soccer – Derek Marinatos was appointed head coach of the men's soccer program at North Florida. Marinatos was the associate head coach for the men's soccer team at Furman the past four years.

    Men's and women's tennis – Jenn Boehm was selected as head coach of the women's tennis program at Saginaw Valley State. Boehm was a student-athlete with the program and served as an assistant coach briefly following her graduation in 2003.
