    Belmont named Brittney Ezell head women's basketball coach. Ezell spent the past two seasons as head coach at Montevallo, where she turned around a program that recorded one winning season in 12 years. Ezell also led a junior college program and was an assistant at Alabama, her alma mater.

    Other transactions

    Associate athletics directors – UC Irvine promoted Paula Smith to executive associate athletics director, Paul Hope to senior associate athletics director and Phil Wang to senior associate athletics director for finance and external relations.

    Coaches

    Baseball – Mike Hutcheon resigned from Air Force, effective at the end of the 2010 season. He will be reassigned within the department for the two years remaining on his contract. Mike Kazlausky will take over on an interim basis after six years as an assistant.

    Men's basketball – San Francisco extended Rex Walters' contract through 2015 … Orlando Early resigned after five years with Louisiana-Monroe. He will be an assistant at South Carolina … Maryville selected former Air Force assistant Kevin Carroll, who also was an assistant at Alabama-Huntsville … Fred Hill resigned after four seasons at Rutgers … Colorado hired former Northern Colorado coach Tad Boyle. Northern Colorado hired B.J. Hill to replace Boyle. Hill has been with the Bears for the past four years … Lorenzo Romar agreed to a new 10-year contract with Washington, keeping him with the school through 2019-20.

    Men's basketball assistants – Auburn hired Randall Dickey, Tony Madlock and Milt Wagner. Mike Babul will be director of basketball operations. All four join new head coach Tony Barbee from UTEP.

    Women's basketball – Akron extended the contract of Jodi Kest through the 2014-15 season. Kest has been with the Zips for four seasons … Albany hired Katie Abrahamson-Henderson, former associate head coach at Indiana … Paine hired Willie Adams, an assistant for the basketball team and former head women's cross country and track coach … Illinois State chose Stephanie Glance, who spent the last year as an assistant to Pat Summitt at Tennessee. Before that, Glance served 15 years as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at North Carolina State.

    Women's basketball assistants – Blaine Patterson resigned from Duquesne. Patterson had been with the staff since May 2007.

    Men's and women's soccer – Georgia College's Juan Pablo Favero resigned after two years to return to his native Argentina.

    Softball – Joyce Compton will retire at the end of the 2010 season after 24 years with the Gamecocks.
