    Longtime Hope men's basketball coach Glenn Van Wieren has announced his retirement. Van Wieren coached the Flying Dutchmen for 33 seasons. The 67-year-old Van Wieren ends an association with Hope basketball that spans 50 years dating back to his playing days in the early 1960s.

    Other transactions

    Directors of athletics – Brian Reese has been named the new director of athletics at Presbyterian.

    Associate director of athletics – San Jose State designated Liz Jarnigan, associate athletics director for student-athlete success services, as the department's senior woman administrator.

    Coaches

    Men's basketball – Mississippi extended the contract of men's basketball coach Andy Kennedy through the 2013-14 season … Charlotte hired Alan Major as men's basketball coach … Georgia College & State University announced that head women's basketball coach John Carrick has decided to retire.

    Women's basketball – Colorado hired Linda Lappe as women's basketball coach … Furman selected Jackie Smith Carson as women's basketball coach.

    Men's and women's soccer – Barry Gorman resigned as men's soccer coach at Penn State … Tamura Crawley-Marigny will be the women's soccer coach at Texas Southern … Pacific hired Morgan Crabtree as women's soccer coach.

    Men's and women's volleyball – Trine named Jamie Wozniak women's volleyball coach.

    Conferences

    The Eastern College Athletic Conference hired Ashley Wills as the administrative/events coordinator … The
    Patriot League hired Quinton Smith as an assistant director for sports management and compliance. Smith was formally an intern at the NCAA national office.
