Lincoln (Missouri) President Carolyn Mahoney has been elected chair of the NCAA Executive Committee Subcommittee on Gender and Diversity Issues.

Mahoney, who also is a member of the Division II Presidents Council, replaces Gannon President Antoine Garibaldi. She will serve a year-long term as chair of the subcommittee.

The subcommittee on gender and diversity is the highest-level group in the NCAA governance structure charged with monitoring and overseeing programming that facilitates diversity and inclusion in intercollegiate athletics. It reports directly to the Executive Committee.

Mahoney has presided at Lincoln (Missouri) since February 2005. Before that, she was the dean of the school of math, science and technology and the provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at Elizabeth City State.

She also has served at California State University, San Marcos, as professor of mathematics, mathematics department chair, and interim vice president for academic affairs. Mahoney also taught at Denison and Ohio State after earning her undergraduate degree from Siena, and a master's and a doctorate from Ohio State.
