Presidential leadership from nearly 130 college campuses across the country will meet Friday and Saturday in Indianapolis for the third Division II Chancellors and Presidents Summit.

The summit provides an opportunity for Division II presidents to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the division, as well as to celebrate recent successes. NCAA President-Elect Mark Emmert will open the Saturday business session to address the group for the first time. Emmert will discuss the important role of presidential leadership in charting the course for the future of the division.

The summit is the first time Division II presidents have congregated since the "Life in the Balance" rules package was passed at the 2010 NCAA Convention in January. That four-proposal package streamlined playing and practice season regulations, which included a reduction in games and shorter seasons. The new rules allow Division II student-athletes to more effectively strike a balance among athletics competition, academic excellence and social growth.  Presidential attendees will discuss next steps and best practices for implementing "Life in the Balance" at the local, conference and national levels.

Other issues to be discussed at this year's summit will include strategic growth, the impact of the current economic climate on campuses, life skills opportunities on campus and athletics department enhancement tools.

Other speakers scheduled for the third Division II Chancellors and Presidents Summit include:

To coincide with the Division II summit, the NCAA Hall of Champions will be transformed to honor Division II athletics. The transformation will include memorabilia from some of Division II's most noteworthy athletes, trivia question games and featured action photographs. Division II apparel and merchandise will be available for purchase, with 50 percent of proceeds benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
