Emporia State has thrived this year on the backs of four seniors and a first-team All-American in point guard Cassondra Boston, but it was backups Alli Volkens and Rachel Hanf who clinched the Hornets' 65-53 win over Fort Lewis in the Division II Women's Basketball Championship game in St. Joseph, Missouri, Friday night.

Volkens wrapped up tournament's most outstanding player honors with 16 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks in the title game. Hanf came off the bench to swish three pivotal three-pointers in successive possessions late in the game to stop Fort Lewis in its tracks. [More]
