UCLA's women's gymnastics team won its sixth National Collegiate Women's Gymnastics Championships team title in Gainesville, Florida, April 23 – the Bruins' first since 2004.

Going into the Bruins' final rotation on the floor, UCLA had only to perform without major mistakes to beat runner-up Oklahoma and third-place finisher Alabama. Coach Valorie Kondos Field led the other five championship squads, but the 2010 team holds a special place for her.

"This championship means a lot more to me than the other five did," she said, "because the other five came in such quick succession."

UCLA was strong in every event, beginning with a 49.475 on vault and not letting up until the competition was complete. [More]
