Klineman, Donelan named top volleyball scholars

The College Sports Information Directors of America named Alix Klineman of Stanford and Brittany Donelan of Heidelberg the 2010 ESPN Academic All-Americans of the Year for women’s volleyball.

Klineman played in all 27 matches for the Cardinal this season, leading the Pac-10 co-champions to a 24-3 record. An art major with a 3.53 grade-point average, Klineman is second in Division I with 5.47 kills per set. She leads her team in hitting percentage (.364), and she averages 0.66 blocks and 2.87 digs per set.

Donelan, a double major in accounting and business administration with a 3.96 GPA, was named Ohio Athletic Conference libero of the year for the third consecutive season. Heidelberg finished the season with a 33-6 record after being upset by national champion Calvin in the second round. Donelan set school and conference records for career digs with 2,687.
