Vassar appointed Del Harris as head men's basketball coach. Harris, who was elevated to the top post after filling the position on an interim basis this past season, was awarded additional responsibilities as an assistant athletics director for operations. Formerly an assistant at Morgan State, VMI and Richmond, Harris joins Vassar after spending the past year as a health and physical education teacher at Dunbar (Maryland) High School.

Other transactions

Men’s tennis – Gustavus Adolphus’ Steve Wilkinson announced plans to retire as head men's tennis coach at end of the school year. Wilkinson has been in charge of the program for the past 39 years and is the winningest coach in men's tennis collegiate history with 923 victories. He has also guided squads to two NCAA Division III titles (1980 and 1982) and 35 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles.

Affiliated members – Jim Sheldon, the executive director of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for 17 years, announced his retirement, effective May 1. Sheldon became the NSCAA’s first full-time executive director in June 1992. Under his leadership, the organization grew from approximately 8,000 to more than 29,000 members in 2008 and expanded key areas of service. NSCAA Associate Executive Director Steve Veal will serve as Sheldon’s interim successor.
