Nine-year Memphis men’s basketball coach John Calipari was announced as the new men’s basketball coach at Kentucky. Calipari replaces Billy Gillispie, who was not retained after amassing a 40-27 record in two seasons. Memphis was 252-69 under Calipari, including a 38-win season and championship-game appearance in 2007-08. Calipari coached previously at Massachusetts from 1988-96 then spent three seasons with the NBA’s New Jersey Nets.

Men’s basketball – Missouri signed men’s basketball coach Mike Anderson to a new seven-year contract. Anderson, whose Tigers went 31-7 this year and advanced to a regional final, has a 65-35 record in three seasons at the school.

Women’s basketball – Lynn hired former assistant Niki Washington as the women’s basketball program’s sixth head coach. Washington steps in for Nikki Sullivan, who resigned after posting a 32-24 record in two seasons. Washington was an assistant with the Fighting Knights for just one season. She was an assistant at Florida A&M for six years before that. Lynn also promoted Adrienne Rieley to top assistant in Washington’s staff.  The former Campbell product previously worked with post players.

Softball – Army announced that current assistant coach Michelle DePolo will succeed Jim Flowers as head coach when Flowers retires after this season, his 19th. DePolo is in her second season as an assistant coach at West Point and will assume her new role July 1. She will be the program’s first female head coach since the program became Division I in 1991. DePolo is a former softball student-athlete at Georgian Court.
