Edgar Johnson announced his retirement effective June 30 as director of athletics at Delaware, where he has held the position for 25 years. He will serve as a member of the Delaware sports management program’s faculty beginning in September 2010. Johnson, who previously coached men’s cross country and men’s and women’s swimming at the school, served on the Division I Management Council.

Women’s basketballSam Biley announced his retirement as head coach at Southern Arkansas, effective following the 2009-10 season. He will be succeeded by assistant Carrie Slaton.

Football assistantsWayne Bolt named director of football relations at Auburn after two years as defensive coordinator at Iowa State. His 31-year coaching career includes a stint as an assistant at Auburn from 1981 to 1986 and again during the 1990 season. He also has held coaching positions at East Carolina, Wyoming, Clemson, Troy and UAB … Brian Von Bergen joined the Montana State staff as wide receivers coach after serving since 2000 on the staff at Miami (Ohio) … Robert Lee named defensive assistant and special teams coordinator at Valparaiso after serving since 2004 as defensive line coach at Eastern Michigan … Ryan Nutt hired as tight ends coach at Wagner after serving last season as defensive line coach at Iona.

Men’s golfGreg Maynard and Jack Pini appointed co-head coaches at Bentley, where both are former student-athletes who currently work in the school’s development, corporate and alumni relations office. Pini is a former baseball assistant at the school … Scott Tiernan resigned effective at the end of this season as head coach at Greensboro, where he also has been assistant sports information director.

RowingPeter Steenstra named head coach at Bates after serving for the past year in an interim capacity. Steenstra coaches both women and men at the school.

Men’s soccerTony McCall hired as head coach at Regis (Colorado). He was head coach at Stetson during the mid-1990s and has been an assistant at South Alabama and Metro State.

Women’s volleyballSinisa Momic promoted from assistant coach and recruiting coordinator to head coach at Tulane, where he has been on the staff since 2002 … Lauren Amundson named head coach at Stonehill after two seasons as an assistant at Bryant. She played at Christian Brothers.
