Mary McElroy, former director of athletics at Georgia State, was hired as senior associate athletics director for compliance at SMU. The former National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators Division I-AAA Administrator of the Year also has held administrative posts at Navy and Georgia Tech.

Men’s basketballDave Madeira retired after 22 season as head coach at Muhlenberg, where he ends his career as the school’s most-victorious coach with 311 wins. He led the Mules to two Centennial Conference titles and two Division III Men’s Basketball Championship appearances.

FootballCory Bailey returned as head coach at Assumption, where he coached teams to a 13-28 record from 2004 to 2007.

Women’s soccerSummer Perala hired as head coach at Eastern Illinois after six seasons on the staff at UAB, including the past two years as associate head coach.

WrestlingTodd Hibbs stepped down as head coach at Olivet, where he will continue to serve as an assistant professor of health, physical education, recreation and sport. His teams posted a 56-24-2 dual-meet mark through five seasons.

Deaths

Thomas Wesley, former baseball coach at Alabama A&M, died March 9 of an apparent heart attack. He was 51. Wesley coached at the school for 16 seasons.
