Wesley golfer Andrew Geyer died over the weekend when he was struck by a vehicle while visiting West Virginia University. Andrew, a Milford, Delaware, native, was a standout both in the classroom and on the golf course. The senior had a 3.93 grade-point average in political science and was a member of Wesley’s Honors Program. He had posted a 4.0 GPA in all but two semesters and was named to the 2008 ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic all-district team and was a member of the Capital Athletic Conference all-academic team.

Presidents and chancellors

Dean Van Galen was appointed as the chancellor of Wisconsin-River Falls. Thomas K. Harden was appointed as the chancellor of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Both chancellors will take office June 1.

Coaches

Women’s basketball – Southwestern Oklahoma announced the resignation of women's basketball coach Shelly Pond at the end of the season.

Football assistants – James Vollono has been named running back coach at Towson. … Western Kentucky announced the resignation of defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson to become the secondary coach at Southern Mississippi. Quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator Kevin Wright is also leaving the staff. … Wisconsin named Brad Pendergrass director of football operations.
