Miami (Florida) women’s golf coach Lela Cannon will retire after the 2009-10 season. She is in her 27th season as the Hurricanes’ coach. Cannon took over at Miami in the fall of 1983. The following spring, she guided the Hurricanes to the national championship. During her tenure, she has led the Hurricanes to one national championship, five state championships and 16 NCAA tournament appearances. She coached 11 All-Americans and seven academic All-Americans.

Football –Western Kentucky released David Elson as football coach. … Memphis released Tommy West as football coach. … Dennis Parker resigned as head coach of the Texas Lutheran football team.

Men’s soccer -- Santa Clara University men’s soccer coach Cameron Roast signed a contract extension through 2014.  

Women’s lacrosse – Penn State-Abington hired Jody Field as women’s lacrosse coach.
