District of Columbia hired Michael S. Riley as associate director of athletics for internal operations. He formerly was an assistant men’s basketball coach at Georgetown for more than 20 years. Riley most recently was with the West Financial Group, where he was responsible for assisting families and businesses with strategic financial planning.

Coaches

Baseball assistants Mel Bacon has been added to the Delaware staff for the 2010 season to work with catchers and serve as first base coach. Bacon served on the staff at Towson for more than seven years and almost three decades coaching at the high school level. He was a baseball student-student-athlete at Frostburg State from 1969-72.

Men’s basketball assistants – Felician appointed Ivan Lewis and Brandon Smith as assistants. Lewis was rehired after serving on the Felician staff last season. Smith enters his first collegiate coaching position after four years as the assistant varsity coach at East Orange (New Jersey) High School, his alma mater. He was a two-year letter-winner at Caldwell.

Deaths

Former Loyola (Illinois) cross country/track runner Jennifer Darrow died October 5. Darrow was a three-time all-Midwestern Collegiate Conference selection in cross country from 1991-93.
