Bowling Green State University women’s basketball coach Curt Miller agreed to a two-year contract extension, through June 30, 2015. In eight years with the program he has compiled a 179-73 record and has been named MAC Coach of the Year every year since 2005.

Other transactions

Men’s basketball – Grambling named assistant Bobby Washington as interim head coach. Washington formerly was head men’s coach at Seminole (Florida) Community College for five years and also spent three years as assistant coach at Florida A&M

Men’s basketball assistant – Concordia-St. Paul added Kent Getzlaff  as an assistant for the 2009-10 season. Getzlaff, a former men’s basketball standout at the school from 1998 to 2002, most recently was as the head boys’ basketball coach and a teacher at South St. Paul (Minnesota) High School from 2004-09.

Men’s ice hockeyBob Miele was elevated to head men’s coach at Westfield State. Miele, the Owls’ assistant coach for the past two years, replaces Jerry Keefe, who was named as the top assistant coach at Brown. Miele also will continue as the manager of athletics facilities.

Conferences

The Horizon League added Mike Laninga assistant director of communications and Kristy Murphy as a communications intern. Laninga has been a communications intern at the Big Ten for the past two years and Murphy is a 2009 IUPUI graduate who has been interning at the Indiana High School Athletic Association for the past eight months.
