Holy Cross named Jeff Kane assistant baseball coach. He spent the past three years as head coach at a Massachusetts prep school. He also served as manager for the Lowell All-Americans of the New England Collegiate Baseball League in 2009. He was a student-athlete at Clemson.

Other transactions

Deputy athletics director – Indiana promoted Scott Dolson, former senior associate athletics director. He has been with the Hoosiers for 18 years.

Associate athletics directors – Wilmington (Delaware) promoted Linda Andrzjewski. She had been assistant athletics director for compliance … Indiana promoted Kevin Clark to senior associate athletics director for internal operations and Mary Ann Rohleder to senior associate athletics director for compliance. She remains the Hoosiers’ senior woman administrator.

Coaches

Men’s basketball – Seton Hall extended Bobby Gonzalez’s contract through the 2014-15 season. Gonzalez begins his fourth season with the Pirates this fall.

Men’s basketball assistants – Drew Adams and Mason Revelette joined Indiana’s staff. Adams will serve as coordinator of basketball systems and Revelette wil be a graduate manager.

Women’s basketball – Thiel selected Angela Zeuch, who spent the past two seasons at Wesleyan (Connecticut).

Men’s and women’s ice hockey – Canisius extended Dave Smith’s contract, keeping him with the men’s team through 2012-13. He is entering his fifth season with the Golden Griffins.

Softball – Hope’s Karla Wolters will retire after 22 years leading the Flying Dutch and 35 years in collegiate coaching. Wolters led Hope to five Division III tournament appearances, finishing third in 1991. She is the fifth-winningest Division III coach. She was at Calvin from 1979-87.

Men’s and women’s tennis – Moravian hired Bill Maxwell to be the program’s seventh men’s tennis coach. He was an assistant at Fairleigh Dickinson.

Men’s and women’s tennis assistants – Former Northwestern student-athlete Georgia Rose joined Illinois’ women’s staff. She was a four-time all-American for the Wildcats.

Miscellaneous

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association extended the contract of CEO Sam Seemes through 2015. Seemes has been with the organization since January 2005 … The NCAA Men’s Volleyball Committee reprimanded UC Irvine student-athlete Ryan Ammerman for inappropriate comments after the championship match of the 2009 National Collegiate Men’s Volleyball Championship. UC Irvine was fined $240.

Deaths

Samford basketball student-athlete Jim Griffin died in his sleep after playing a pickup game and lifting weights September 7. The Chicago native was 23.
