Alabama football coachNick Saban signed a contract extension that will keep him at Alabama through 2017. Saban signed an eight-year contract when he joined the Crimson Tide in 2007. He has led Alabama to a 19-8 record, including a 12-2 mark in 2008.

Coaches

Baseball assistants – Angelo State tabbed Jerod Goodale, who spent the past three seasons at Wichita State.

Rowing assistants – Sacramento State hired Tracey Tallman. Tallman was a student-athlete at Minnesota and spent the last two years as an assistant at St. Lawrence.

Softball – Plattsburgh State named assistant coach Stephanie Zweig to the head coaching position on an interim basis. The former Plattsburgh State pitcher takes over for Sean Cotter, who resigned to take a similar position at Massachusetts-Lowell.

Men’s and women’s volleyball – Scranton promoted assistant women’s coach Kelly Armes. She replaces Matt Dunn, who recently resigned. Armes is an education liaison and outreach services director for the U.S. Army.

Conferences

The Atlantic-10 named AnnMarie Person director of new media and Internet. The conference also promoted Brad Jones to director of championships and Stephen Haug to assistant commissioner for media relations and communications. Person has been with the conference since 2003. Haug joined the league office in 2000 and Jones joined the staff in 2005 … The Lone Star Conference tabbed Marissa Frischer to be the 2009-10 intern. Frischer will work in external relations. She previously served in marketing and communications at Boston U.
