College of Charleston men’s basketball coach Bobby Cremins has signed a two-year contract extension that runs through the 2013-14 season. Cremins, who enters his 29th season as a college head coach and his fourth at Charleston, has led the Cougars to a 65-37 overall record and a pair of Southern Conference championship-game appearances.

Other transactions

Assistant athletics directors – Carnegie Melon hired Todd Jackson as assistant director of athletics for intramurals and club sports and promoted Sara Gauntner to assistant director of athletics for instructional programs and recreation.

Coaches

Baseball – Rick Heller was hired as the baseball coach at Indiana State.

Women’s basketball – Kansas women’s basketball coach Bonnie Henrickson has signed a three-year extension that places her under contract through 2013-14.

Men’s and women’s cross country – Alison Wade has been named men’s and women’s cross country coach at Siena.

Men’s and women’s golf – Utah Valley chose Chris Curran as coach of the women’s golf program.

Softball – Misericordia hired Jennifer Probst as softball coach.

Men’s and women’s tennis – Holy Cross named Lisa Meola as women’s tennis coach.

Men’s and women’s track and field – Boise State University named J.W. Hardy coach for the men’s and women’s track and field / cross country programs.

Men’s and women’s volleyball – Maine-Farmington named Kika Nigals as women’s volleyball coach.   

Men’s basketball assistants – Rutgers hired Sal Mentesana as a men’s basketball assistant coach and Craig Carter as recruiting coordinator.

Staff

Media relations -- Joe Waters has been named publicist of the State University of New York Athletic Conference for 2009-10. … Rhode Island College has named Greg Driscoll as intern for the athletic media relations department.

Strength and conditioning -- Andy Williams joined the Northern Arizona athletics staff as the strength and conditioning coach.
