Greensboro promoted Jean Lojko to director of athletics. Lojko has served as associate director of athletics at Greensboro since August 2002. She also has been the department’s senior woman administrator. Lojko will retain her role as women’s volleyball coach as she enters her 29th year. She has compiled a 585-372 record in her tenure.

Coaches

Men’s basketball assistants – Doug Oliver has been named an assistant men’s basketball coach at UC Irvine … UNC Greensboro hired Kevin Oleksiak as director of men’s basketball operations.

Women’s basketball assistants – Army promoted Maureen Magarity to associate head coach.

Bowling – Justin Kostick has been named coach of the Arkansas State bowling team.

Men’s and women’s cross country assistants – John Evangelista was named assistant men’s and women’s cross country coach at Marywood.

Field hockey – Megan Bullock was named assistant field hockey coach at Marywood.

Football assistants – Gallaudet hired John Davis as its football defensive coordinator and as an assistant men’s and women’s track and field coach.

Men’s and women’s tennis – Michael Hughes has been named men’s tennis coach at Assumption … Neil Caniga was hired as women’s tennis coach at Roger Williams.

Men’s and women’s tennis assistants – Jamie Valis was named assistant women’s tennis coach at Marywood. The school also named Michele Petrasko as an assistant men’s tennis coach.

Men’s and women’s track and field – Deb Vercauteren retired as the women’s track and field coach at Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She will continue to assist with the track team while also retaining duties as head women’s cross country coach and senior assistant athletics director.

Men’s and women’s volleyball – Sam Shweisky was named men’s volleyball coach and assistant women’s volleyball coach at Princeton.

Men’s and women’s volleyball assistants – Marywood hired Sharon Uliana as an assistant women’s volleyball coach.

Staff

Athletic trainers – Marywood named Melissa Knabel interim head athletic trainer and Scott Summers assistant athletic trainer for 2009-10.

Media relations – Sam Atkinson was named sports information director at Gallaudet.

Conferences

The Patriot League hired Jimmy Johnson as media and external relations assistant.

Deaths

Walter Cloud, who lettered two seasons for the Delaware men’s basketball team and led the squad to the 1968 Middle Atlantic Conference Middle Five championship, died at the age of 64 August 10  … Former Louisiana Tech basketball student-athlete Lavelle Felton died August 13.
