DePaul hired Tom Kleinschmidt as director of basketball operations. Kleinschmidt was an honorable mention all-American in 1995 for the Blue Demons and was a three-time first-team all-Great Midwest Conference pick. Kleinschmidt led the league in scoring as a senior and averaged more than 20 points per game in both his junior (20.5) and senior (21.4) seasons. He is one of four Blue Demons to lead the team in scoring and assists in the same season, and the only player to accomplish the feat twice.

Assistant athletics directors – Cheyney hired Constancia (Connie) Hayes as an assistant athletic director for compliance and Lydia Harsley as assistant athletic director for academics and student-athlete support services.

Coaches

Women’s basketball assistants – Ramin Mazaheri has been named assistant coach for the Juniata women's basketball program.

 

Staff

Media relations – Holy Cross named Meredith Cook as an assistant director of athletic media relations. … Juniata hired Dan Lauletta as assistant sports information director.

 

Deaths

Megan Loehr, 18, an incoming freshman at Francis Marion, died August 5 after she was struck by a truck while jogging in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was vacationing with her family and was to run cross country for the Patriots this fall.
