Northwestern’s athletics communications office hired former Sports Illustrated and Chicago Tribune writer Skip Myslenski as a contributing writer for NUsports.com and The Den, Northwestern’s official football game-day magazine.

Other transactions

Assistant athletics directors – Boston University announced Jeffrey Selesnick as an assistant director of athletic communications.

Coaches

Men’s basketball – Sage selected Brian Barnes as the men’s basketball coach and an assistant athletics director.

Men’s and women’s cross country – Sage chose Jim Bowles to serve as the inaugural coach of the men’s cross country program.

Football assistants – Wartburg added Damian Droessler as running backs coach.

Men’s and women’s soccer – Sage announced the selection of Kyle Clancy to serve as the inaugural coach of the men’s soccer program.

Men’s and women’s volleyball – Andy Smith was hired at Sage as coach of the men’s volleyball program.

Staff

Media relations – Northwestern named Rob Coons as its director of new media/Big Ten Network liaison. The school also promoted Scott Hammer to assistant director of athletics communications. … Wisconsin named Brian Lucas director of athletics communications.
