Northern Kentucky promoted Scott Eaton to director of athletics. He succeeds Jane Meier, who resigned in April after 21 years. Eaton has been at Northern Kentucky since 1998 and most recently was senior associate athletics director for administration. He formerly was special assistant to the athletics direc­tor and assistant men’s basketball coach at Brown.

Other transactions

Men’s and women’s golf – Muhlenberg hired John Librick as director of golf and head equipment-room manager. Librick, who will serve as head men’s golf coach and have administrative oversight of the women’s program, has been outside operations manager and assistant professional at Center Valley Club in Pennsylvania since 2000 … Justin Pratt was appointed as the first head men’s and women’s golf coach at Montevallo. Both programs will enter their first seasons in Peach Belt competition this year. For the past eight years, Pratt has been a volunteer assistant men’s soccer coach at the school … Heather Broadbent named assistant women’s coach at Transylvania. She coached at the high school level after playing the sport at Kentucky, then assisting with the Wildcats’ women’s team during 1998-99.

Men’s and women’s soccer – Joel Bancroft has stepped down from his position as men’s soccer coach at Saint Joseph’s (Maine).

SoftballBernadette Macca was chosen as head women’s basketball and head softball coach at Mitchell. Macca, who served as the college’s sports information director, has formerly coached at Bloomsburg, Elmira and Wells.

Men’s and women’s swimming and diving – Monmouth (Illinois) elevated assistant coach Kurt Niemeier to head coach. A former member of the Scots swimming team, Niemeier holds two individual and four relay school records and his four Midwest titles (2007 and 2008) makes him the program’s second most decorated swimmer.

Staff

Sports information – Stonehill selected Doug Monson as director of athletics communications. Monson, who takes over for Kevin Anderson, has been sports information director at Franklin Pierce for the past eight years and formerly served in the same capacity at American International for two years

Conferences

The North Coast Athletic Conference appointed Keri Alexander Luchowski as acting executive director succeeding the late Dennis Collins. Alexander Luchowski, the league’s associate director for the past two years, has been at the NCAC since 1999-00 and has directed media relations and championship operations for the past 10 years … The Big South hired Mary Gover as compliance/administration assistant, Daniel Cooke as public relations assistant and Janette Lavery as marketing assistant. Gover graduated from College of Charleston in May 2005. Cooke is a recent graduate of Gardner-Webb, where he played baseball and football. Lavery graduated from North Carolina-Wilmington in 2009.

 

Deaths

Lynn Imergoot, the associate director of intramurals and club sports and former women’s tennis coach at Washington U. in St. Louis, died July 24 from injuries sustained in a car accident in New York. She was 60. Imergoot, the first head coach in the program’s history, retired from coaching in 2005 and spent a total of 37 years on the Danforth campus. The five-time University Athletic Association coach of the year led the Bears to seven NCAA tournament appearances and tabulated a career record of 435-164 in 30 seasons (1975-05).
