Culver-Stockton selected Stephen Peck Jr. as head men’s soccer coach, replacing Mark Thomas. Most recently, Peck has been in charge of the men’s soccer program at Jefferson College, where, in four seasons, he led the Vikings to a 73-20-7 record and the 2006 National Junior College Athletic Association championship. He also registered a 74-30-8 mark and captured the 2003 NJCAA national championship in five seasons at East Central College.

Other transactions

Men’s basketball – Cornell College’s Mike DeGeorge resigned after five seasons. This past season, DeGeorge led the Rams to their first Division III tournament berth since 1994 and the school’s second Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament title in any in sport since joining the league 11 years ago.

Women’s basketball – East Tennessee State and head coach Karen Kemp agreed to a contract extension through the 2012 season. Kemp, the school’s all-time winningest coach with 214 wins, has guided the Lady Bucs to three straight 20-plus win seasons and consecutive trips to postseason play since 2006.

Men’s and women’s cross countryJohn Houghton was chosen as head men’s and women’s cross country coach at Union (New York). Houghton, a 2001 graduate of the school and an assistant coach with the program since 2002, takes over for Dave Riggi, who will focus on the men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field teams.

Men’s and women’s golf – UMKC appointed Brianna Broderick as head women’s golf coach.  Broderick spent the past year as an assistant women’s coach at Kent State … Bryce Wallor was hired as head men’s golf coach at Central Florida after five successful seasons as an assistant coach at Tennessee. He also was head coach at Connecticut from 2000-02 and an assistant coach at Davidson from 1999-00.

Men’s and women’s tennis – Nebraska-Kearney hired Jake Saulsbury as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach. Saulsbury, who replaces Kent Shultz, is a 2008 graduate of Northwest Missouri State, where he spent the last season as an graduate assistant coach … Matt Tyler, an assistant coach at Colgate since 2008,was tabbed as head men’s and women’s tennis coach and equipment manager at Wartburg. Tyler replaces Ben Oestreich, who became the head women’s tennis coach at Edgewood … Holy Cross head men’s and women’s tennis coach Mike Lucas resigned after 10 years with the program to become the principal at Tantasqua (Massachusetts) Regional High School.

Men’s and women’s volleyballDon Perkins has been tabbed as head men’s and women’s volleyball coach at Kean. Perkins joins the Cougar staff after a two year stint as an assistant coach at Mississippi State. 

Staff

Athletic trainer – Randolph-Macon promoted Heather Bauby to head athletic trainer. Bauby has been an assistant athletic trainer at the school since 2004.

Joe Cummings, president and general manager of the Boston Breakers franchise of Women’s Professional Soccer, was named as chief executive officer and executive director for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Cummings, an NSCAA member since 1981 and the association’s president in 2004, has been involved at every level of the game, from youth club teams to the men’s and women’s professional ranks, including a two-year stint as head men’s coach at Holy Cross.
