DePaul has hired Greg Greenwell as director of sports information/media relations. Greenwell enters his 10th year at DePaul after serving as assistant director since July 2000. Before joining the Blue Demons, the Flagler graduate spent a year as the assistant media relations director at Texas Tech. Greenwell also has worked for the Chicago White Sox, the Indianapolis Colts and in the Indiana University, Bloomington, media relations department.

Coaches

Men’s and women’s golf assistants – Trinity (Texas) appointed Craig McConnell as an assistant men’s and women’s golf coach.

Men’s and women’s lacrosseSarah Lautenbach has been selected as head women’s coach at Holy Family.

Men’s and women’s soccer – UAB extended head men’s soccer coach Mike Getman’s contract through December 31, 2012.

Softball – Holy Family chose Erin Livingston as head softball coach. Livingston spent the 2009 season as an assistant coach at Kean.

Men’s and women’s tennis – Pennsylvania hired alumna Sanela Kunovac as head women’s coach. Kunovac was the Ivy League Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year in 2001, the first Penn women’s tennis player to earn both honors in the same season.

Wrestling assistants – Hofstra added Zach Tanelli as an assistant.

Deaths

Western Carolina junior football player Ja’Quayvin Smalls died July 8 after collapsing during conditioning drills as a part of voluntary off-season workouts. Smalls collapsed while running as a part of the evening workout session. The workouts were the first with the team for Smalls, who was enrolled in the second session of Western Carolina’s summer school.
