Bob Groseth retired as coach of Northwestern’s men’s swimming and diving program after 20 seasons. He will become the interim executive director of the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. He has served as president elect of the organization for the past two years. Groseth moved Northwestern’s swimming and diving team from the back of the Big Ten to third place finish in the 2004 season. Assistant Jarod Schroeder, a former Wildcat swimmer, will replace Groseth.

Men’s basketballPete Barry retired from Coast Guard after 19 years with the academy and 40 years in high school and college coaching.

Men’s basketball assistants – Texas State tabbed Rob Flaska, who has served as a head and assistant coach for the past 26 years.

Men’s and women’s cross country – Bethany (West Virginia) hired Matt Abel, who will also assist with the school’s track and field program.

Football assistants – Elon named Charlie Porterfield director of football operations. The 2008 Elon graduate replaces Mark Robinson.

Men’s and women’s lacrosseAbigail Jackson will coach the women’s lacrosse team at Roger Williams. She will also lead the women’s soccer teams. Jackson was head women’s lacrosse coach and women’s basketball assistant at Plymouth State since 2006. She played soccer, basketball and lacrosse at Williams … Bill Tierney will coach the men’s team at Denver after 22 successful seasons at Princeton, including eight NCAA championship games, 10 Final Four appearances and 14 Ivy League titles. He replaces Jamie Munro on July 1.

Men’s and women’s soccer assistants – New Jersey Institute of Technology hired former Monmouth assistant Matt Friel to lead its men’s program.

Wrestling – Indianapolis tabbed alumnus Jason Warthan. Warthan competed in wrestling, cross country and track for the Greyhounds and has been a prep coach since 2002.

Softball – Texas Tech hired Shanon Hays, former Lubbock Christian coach. Hays’ record at the school was 114-16 in two years. He was a Red Raider assistant men’s basketball coach for two seasons.

Volleyball assistants – Bethany (West Virginia) tabbed Julia Davis.

Staff

Assistant athletic trainer – Bethany (West Virginia) selected Kentucky graduate assistant athletic trainer Corey Wingen.
