Marissa O’Neil was named head women’s ice hockey coach at Williams, replacing Shannon Bryant, who resigned. O’Neil assisted last season with the Amherst team that won the Division III Women’s Ice Hockey Championship. She was New England Small College Athletic Conference player of the year for 2003 in field hockey at Bowdoin and earned all-America honors. Bryant compiled a record of 21-46-7 through three seasons at Williams.

Other transactions

Men’s basketballBrett Campbell resigned after nine seasons at Tennessee-Martin. He will be replaced by assistant head coach Jason James, a member of the staff for the past seven years … Kevin Broadus received a contract extension through the 2013-14 season at Binghamton.

Men’s basketball assistant Steve Schafer joined the staff at Benedictine (Illinois). He has been an assistant at Wayne State (Nebraska) and most recently at North Park.

Cross countryMatt Abel was selected as head men’s and women’s coach at Bethany (West Virginia), where he also will assist with track and field.

Golf Erika DeSanty was hired as women’s golf coach at Williams, where she has assisted for the past two years with women’s basketball.

LacrosseRachel Simone was named head women’s coach at Mount St. Mary (New York) after two years as an assistant at Springfield.

SoftballKen Leavoy was appointed head coach at Principia.

VolleyballDana Cordova resigned after one season as head coach at Montana State-Billings, where she also stepped down as men’s golf coach.
