Southern Indiana hired Rodney Watson as its new men’s basketball coach. He becomes the ninth head coach in the history of the program. Watson takes the helm of the Screaming Eagles after 21 seasons at Southern Illinois. He has been the associate head coach the last two seasons after spending 19 seasons as an assistant coach under head coaches Rich Herrin, Bruce Weber, Matt Painter and Chris Lowery.

Other transactions

Director of athletics – Davis & Elkins named Greg Myers as athletics director.

Coaches

Field hockey – Keene State elevated field hockey coach Amy Watson to full-time status.

Men’s and women’s golf – Houston did not renew the contract of men’s golf coach Vince Jarrett.

Men’s and women’s lacrosse – Shepherd named Tammy Butler coach of the women’s lacrosse program. The Rams will begin varsity play in 2010.

Men’s and women’s tennis – Brian Shanley has resigned as the men’s tennis coach at Salve Regina.

Staff

Sports information – Keene State named John Napolitano as assistant sports information coordinator.
