Toledo hired Greg Smith as head women’s volleyball coach. Smith has spent the past three seasons as the top assistant at Notre Dame. Before his stint with the Fighting Irish, he served as head coach at Virginia Tech for six seasons (2000-05) and was an assistant at Ohio State, Hofstra and Indianapolis.

Other transactions

Associate director of athletics – Western Illinois chose Josh Moon as an associate athletics director. Moon has been the assistant athletics director for compliance and sports administration at Central Michigan since May of last year after previously serving as the school’s director of compliance (2006-08), compliance coordinator (2005-06) and compliance assistant (2004-05).

Coaches

Football assistants – Wisconsin-Whitewater added Dan Brunner as an assistant coach.  Brunner recently retired from teaching after coaching at Hartford Union (Wisconsin) High School for 19 years. 

Women’s golfJill Briles-Hinton resigned as head women’s coach at Florida after 11 seasons. Briles-Hinton, the 2008 Southeastern Conference coach of the year, guided the Gators to six NCAA championships appearances during her tenure.

Staff

ComplianceJacqueline Babich was named director of compliance at Oregon State after serving as assistant director of compliance and student-athlete services at SMU since 2007. She replaces Kyle Pifer, who accepted a similar position at Washington.
