Anderson (South Carolina) named Craig Mosqueda as head women’s volleyball coach. Mosqueda, who has been head coach at Asbury College for the past eight seasons, replaces Jennifer Bell, who relinquished head coaching duties after 11 years to become director of compliance at Anderson, where she also was named senior woman administrator. This past season, Mosqueda guided Asbury to the program's first Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship and berth in the NAIA national tournament. He also has coached on the club and high school levels.

Other transactions

Director of athleticsTerrance J. Tumey was appointed as director of athletics at Dominican (California). Tumey has been director of football administration with the San Francisco 49ers for the past five years. Formerly an assistant football coach at UCLA, Tumey will guide the university’s transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division II and Pacific West Conference membership.

Baseball – Arkansas Tech head coach Billy Goss resigned after 11 seasons. Goss guided the program to five Gulf South tournament appearances and a 265-277-1 record.  Assistant coach Wes McCrotty was chosen as interim head coach.

Men’s basketballBuzz Peterson was tapped for a second stint as head coach at Appalachian State. Peterson led Mountaineer program to a 79-39 record, three Southern Conference regular-season championships and an NCAA tournament appearance as head coach from 1996-2000. He also has been in charge of programs at Tulsa, Tennessee and Coastal Carolina … Wheaton (Illinois) chose Mike Schauer as head coach. Schauer, the head coach at Gordon for the past seven seasons, succeeds Bill Harris, who retired in March after 18 years at the helm of the Thunder.

Men’s basketball assistantsJustin Gainey was added as an assistant coach at Elon after spending the past three seasons as an assistant at his alma mater, North Carolina State, where he was a four-year member of the basketball squad … High Point selected Mike Balado as an assistant coach. Last season, Balado was a member of the Miami (Florida) coaching staff.

Women’s bowling – San Houston State hired Brad Hagen, a U.S. Bowling Congress certified coach with more than 15 years of competitive experience at the regional and national level, as head coach. The program is scheduled to begin varsity competition in 2010.

Wrestling assistant – Greensboro elevated volunteer assistant coach Darren Burns to full-time status. Burns concluded his collegiate career after the 2007-08 season as the most decorated wrestler in the history of the Greensboro program with a school record 107 victories against 35 losses.
