Duncan Sherrard, a 14-time all-American swimmer and three-time Southeastern Conference champion at Florida, is the new head men’s and women’s swimming coach at Florida Southern. Sherrard comes to Florida Southern from junior college swimming power Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, Florida, where he has been the assistant coach the past two seasons, helping Indian River extend its string of national junior college championships. Indian River has won the men’s national junior college swimming title 34 consecutive years and has won the women’s national title 26 consecutive years. A four-year letter-winner (1998-2002) for the Gators, Sherrard still ranks in the top 10 in seven events at his alma mater, including the school’s second-best 200-yard butterfly time (1:43.18).
