It was a perfect Sunday afternoon for Rose-Hulman junior softball pitcher Jordan Goslee.

Goslee capped a six-for-six day at the plate during a doubleheader against Hanover on March 22 by pitching a five-inning perfect game in the nightcap as the Fightin’ Engineers swept the games, 10-1 and 8-0.

She struck out eight batters in tossing the first perfect game in Rose-Hulman history and only the second no-hitter.

“I’ve been trying to throw a no-hitter for a while, but it feels really good to throw a perfect game,” Goslee said. “I tried not to think about it too much during the game. My goal isn't to strike out everyone out, but to let them put the ball into play and rely on our defense.  That makes it a team game, and we did that today.”

In the first game, Goslee hit three doubles in three at-bats, then aided her own cause in the perfect game by collecting three singles.

“Jordan has proven that she is an excellent pitcher and deserves all the accolades that come her way,” coach Brian Shearer said. “I feel privileged to witness a no-hitter as a coach, let alone a perfect game.”
