Montclair State now owns the longest men’s soccer home winning streak in any NCAA division, following its 41st consecutive victory this week.

The Red Hawks defeated Kean Wednesday night at Sprague Field to break the record set from 1991 to 1993 by Division III member Ohio Wesleyan.

Montclair State’s streak began in October 2005, counting games played at MSU Soccer Park and at Sprague Field. The nationally ranked Red Hawks also extended two New Jersey Athletic Conference win streaks, with its 15th straight regular-season conference win and 20th straight victory counting postseason play against league foes.

The 41-game home winning streak also tops Division I’s best streak of 39 wins, by Tulsa from 1988 to 1992, and the Division II best of 32 straight by Cal State Los Angeles from 1982 to 1986.

The Red Hawks can improve the record Sunday against Eastern Connecticut State at MSU Soccer Park.
