The Milwaukee School of Engineering will add men’s lacrosse in spring 2010, bringing the school’s varsity sport total to 22. Club coach Robin Buckley will take over the varsity program.

“Lacrosse has rapidly gained popularity in the Midwest as more opportunities have growth through local youth clubs and high schools,” said Athletics Director Dan Harris. “During the past three seasons, we have seen growth in our club program and are ready to grant the team varsity status.”

Buckley was one of the founding members of the Milwaukee Lacrosse Club, Milwaukee Area Youth Lacrosse Association and the Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation-Wisconsin Chapter of U.S. Lacrosse.

The Milwaukee School of Engineering is a charter member of the Midwest Lacrosse Conference. Other conference members include Adrian, Carthage, Fontbonne, Mount St. Joseph’s and Trine. Additional members are expected to join in the future.
