Another recent Division III student-athlete, who played tennis at Keuka as a freshman, has been listed among the victims of last Thursday night’s crash of a Continental flight near Buffalo.

Beth Kushner, 19, attended Keuka during the 2007-08 academic year and was a first-team all-North Eastern Athletic Conference honoree after helping lead her team to a regular-season championship and third-place finish at the NEAC championships in fall 2007.

Family members told the Rochester (New York) Democrat and Chronicle that Kushner was taking a year off from studies and had been vacationing in California. She reportedly was considering a career in sports management or physical therapy.

Former Rowan swimmer Lorin Maurer, who worked as an athletics fund-raiser at Princeton and was a former NCAA national office intern, and Madeline “Maddy” Loftus, a former ice hockey student-athlete at Buffalo State and St. Mary’s (Minnesota), also died in the crash in Clarence Center, New York, that killed 49 passengers and crew members and one person on the ground.
