Hood will install a new playing surface and build locker-room facilities and a new stadium entrance as part of an estimated $1.5 million project set for completion by August 1.

The cost will be funded primarily by The Hodson Trust, which has provided more than $64 million to the school for scholarships, endowed professorships, athletics programs, research grants and internships, as well as new or upgraded campus infrastructure, since 1936.

The new FieldTurf surface will be used by the school’s field hockey, lacrosse and soccer teams.

The college said it also continues to raise funds for a multipurpose Recreation-Education-Athletic Cente, also planned among improvements of athletics facilities. The facility would become the home for 19 sports involving more than 200 student-athletes, as well as recreational and intramural programs and other campus activities.
