Following is a summary of Division III news from the week of August 3-7.

  • The Division III Presidents Council will sponsor seven proposals at the 2010 Convention, led by a proposed amendment to the Division III philosophy statement addressing presidential leadership.
  • The Division III Men’s Golf Committee is considering a reduced field for the final two days of the championship tournament.
  • Greensboro recently eliminated the full-time position of director of athletics as part of a college restructuring prompted by financial difficulties.
  • York (New York), the only member of the City University of New York Athletic Conference that does not sponsor women’s tennis, will add the varsity program this fall.
  • Paul Bogan, longtime director of athletics at Westfield State and a former commissioner of the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference, will be honored posthumously this fall with the Eastern College Athletic Conference’s James Lynah Distinguished Service Award.
