Following is a summary of Division III news from the week of September 8-11.

  • A newly adopted strategic-positioning platform describes Division III as a place to “follow your passions and develop your potential” within an approach to intercollegiate athletics that combines rigorous academics, competitive sports and an opportunity to pursue other interests.
  • Williams was selected as Jostens Institution of the Year for an unprecedented fifth time by the Eastern College Athletic Conference, sharing this year’s award with first-time recipient Duke.
  • Ferrum and Hanover are adding men’s lacrosse for 2011.
  • Wooster has announced it will sponsor women’s golf beginning in 2010-11.
  • New athletics facilities at Brooklyn will permit the school to resurrect its men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams.
  • Nominations are being sought for vacancies on the Division III Men’s Lacrosse Committee and the new Division III Infractions Appeals Committee.
