CUNYAC's Ivkovic named outstanding commissioner

The All-American Football Foundation is honoring Zak Ivkovic of the City University of New York Athletic Conference with its Asa S. Bushnell Outstanding Commissioner Award.

Ivkovic, CUNYAC commissioner for the past six years, will be honored October 6 at the annual New England Banquet of Champions in Hyannis, Massachusetts.

He has worked with the CUNYAC for 20 years, starting as part-time sports information director in 1990. He served for seven years as associate director and interim executive director of the league before becoming commissioner

During his tenure, Ivkovic has overseen the development and continued growth of collegiate athletics at the conference’s 15 member institutions while doubling the number of conference tournaments from 12 to 24 championships.

He also has been active nationally, serving on the NCAA Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee and the Division III Championships Committee.
