Nearly 100 student-athletes from City University of New York Athletic Conference schools were on hand for Wednesday morning’s broadcast of the CBS Early Show, helping count down a swordsman’s attempt to set a world record for slicing tossed apples and chatting with the show’s weather man.

The student-athletes, who wore team clothing and displayed banners from the various CUNYAC member schools during the broadcast, participated as part of CUNY Month festivities in New York City.

The CBS Early Show typically broadcasts segments in front of an audience outside of its studio in the General Motors Building. The student-athletes braved wind and cold temperatures to appear in the segments, including an attempt by martial arts expert Kenneth Lee to regain recognition in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most apples sliced by a Samurai sword (see the video).

CUNY Month celebrates the university and its programs through a variety of events on the system’s campuses.
