Concordia (Wisconsin) will sponsor men’s and women’s varsity lacrosse beginning in spring 2011. The search for coaches will begin immediately. Concordia sponsors all 18 Northern Athletics Conference-sponsored sports (plus men’s and women’s hockey and wrestling).

“Lacrosse has become increasingly popular in high schools and clubs in the Midwest over recent years,” said Athletics Director Rob Barnhill. “We believe that there is sufficient interest from prospective student-athletes to support lacrosse at Concordia, and this growth is consistent with strategic campus initiatives. Because NCAA lacrosse is played in the spring, we felt this sport would be a good fit and would complement our current athletic offerings and facilities.”

The school sponsors baseball, football, softball, women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field.
