A Becker sophomore is the new owner of the Division III single-season women’s lacrosse record for goals in a season.

Tammy Mullen’s eight goals Monday in a 17-14 win over Pine Manor broke a 15-year-old mark, and the midfielder can add to the new record total of 114 goals in Becker’s regular-season finale Saturday at home against Bridgewater State.

Mullen broke Julie Noyes’ record of 107 goals for Swarthmore. Mullen has played in all 16 of Becker’s games this season. Noyes’ record also was set in 16 games during the 1994 season.

The record-tying goal came less than two minutes into the game, and Mullen broke the record about six minutes later. Her last three goals of the night proved to be game-winners as she put Becker ahead for good, 16-13.

Her most productive stretch of games this season began March 31 when she scored 38 goals in four games over a 10-day period. She followed that up by scoring 15 of Becker’s 23 goals against Anna Marie April 14.

The two-year-old Becker lacrosse program, with an 8-8 record, will be shooting for its first winning season Saturday.
