Regis (Colorado) head men’s basketball coach Lonnie Porter earned his 500th career victory December 12 when his Rangers defeated Western State, 72-57.

Porter is the 10th active coach and the 35th all-time to earn 500 career victories in NCAA Division II history.

Porter, in his 33rd season at the Regis helm, sported a career record of 500-390 after the win over the Mountaineers.

Porter was a basketball standout at Adams State when the school competed as a member of the NAIA. He was just the second athlete in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference history to earn first-team all-conference honors (1961-62 through 1964-65) during each of his four years.
